Anti-Israel fly-in protest 

is a bust

Israel was on

alert Sunday for a planned mass fly-in protest,

or “flytilla,” by foreign anti-Israel activists

protesting the Jewish state’s control of Judea

and Samaria, including the eastern half of

Jerusalem. But by the end of the work day, a mere

27 activists had managed to land in Israel. They

were quickly detained and deported.

The stunt was largely thwarted by Israel

loudly publicizing the fact that it would deny

entry to the activists, insisting that they were

arriving for the sole purpose of provoking

unrest. As a result, most airlines cancelled the

activists’ tickets rather than be billed for

their return flights upon deportation from

Israel. Unable to even reach Israel, hundreds of

the activists demonstrated at an airport in

Paris.

Those who did make it to Israel were presented

an official letter of welcome by Israel’s Foreign

Ministry. The wry letter read:

Dear activist,

We appreciate your choosing to make Israel the

object of your humanitarian concerns. We know

there were many other worthy choices.

You could have chosen to protest they Syrian

regime’s daily savagery against its own people,

which has claimed thousands of lives.

You could have chosen to protest the Iranian

regime’s brutal crackdown on dissent and support

of terrorism throughout the world.

You could have chosen to protest Hamas rule in

Gaza, where terror organizations commit a double

war crime by firing rockets at civilians and

hiding behind civilians.

But instead you chose to protest against

Israel, the Middle East’s sole democracy, where

women are equal, the press criticizes the

government, human rights organizations can

operate freely, religious freedom is protected

for all and minorities do not live in fear.

Therefore we suggest to let you solve first

the real problems of the region, and then come

back and share with us your experience.

Have a nice flight.

The letter was seen as a public relations

victory, as it strongly highlighted the grossly

exaggerated attention paid to Israel and its

conflict with the Palestinian Arabs, a conflict

that pales in comparison with so many other

crises around the world. For

many, it is that gross exaggeration, that

irrational obsession with what “the Jews” are

doing, that marks such schemes as

anti-Semitic.

Israel plans to bar entry by some 2,000 activists

from at least 15 different countries, mostly in

Europe, either by preventing them from boarding

their flights or by deporting them once they

arrive.



The activists want to draw attention to Israel’s

practice of barring foreigners it believes could

cause trouble by engaging in pro-Palestinian

activities during their visit.



The letter – drawn up in the Prime Minister’s

Office – noted, that the activists “could have

chosen to protest the Syrian regime’s daily

savagery against its own people, which has

claimed thousands of lives.”



Alternatively, they could have chosen to protest

“the Iranian regime’s brutal crackdown on dissent

and support of terrorism throughout the world.”

Or, if they simply had to come to this part of

the globe, they “could have chosen to protest

Hamas rule in Gaza, where terror organizations

commit a double war crime by firing rockets at

civilians and hiding behind civilians.”



Instead, “you chose to protest against Israel,

the Middle East’s sole democracy, where women are

equal, the press criticizes the government, human

rights organizations can operate freely,

religious freedom is protected for all and

minorities do not live in fear.”



The letter concludes with a suggestion that the

activists first solve “the real problems of the

region” and then “come back and share with us

your experience.”



In an indication that Israel will not let the

protesters in but will instead deport them back

to their countries of origin, the letter ends

with the line: “Have a nice flight.”



Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry officials said

Saturday night that responsibility for dealing

with the flytilla was in the hands of the Public

Security Ministry, which will be in contact with

the consulates of the countries whose nationals

are to be barred from entering the country.



The Foreign Ministry has over the past few weeks

been in discussions with its counterparts in

capitals around the world, explaining Israel’s

position regarding the fly-in and making clear

that those coming to engage in provocative

actions would not be given an entry visa.



Israeli authorities circulated to the airlines

the names of some 1,200 pro-Palestinian activists

expected to participate, in the hope that the

companies would prevent them from boarding.



One official explained that if someone flies into

a country without the necessary visa or is not

given that visa when he or she lands, the

responsibility – and expense – for flying the

person back falls on the airline.



Already on Wednesday, Amnon Shmueli, who heads

the Immigration Authority at Ben- Gurion Airport,

sent a letter to all airlines with a list of

names of the people it believed were planning on

participating in flytilla, according to a

document posted on its website.



The document said, “Due to statements of

pro-Palestinian radicals to arrive on commercial

flights from abroad to disrupt order and confront

security forces at friction points, it was

decided to deny their entry.”



“Attached is a list of passengers that are denied

entry to Israel. In light of the above mentioned,

you are ordered not board them on your flights,”

the letter states.



“Failure to comply with this directive will

result in sanctions against the airlines.”



According to the website, already as early as

Tuesday a foreign visitor from Sweden who entered

Israel from Eilat was asked to sign a pledge not

to be a member of a pro-Palestinian organization,

not to be in contact with any pro-Palestinian

organizations and not to participate in

pro-Palestinian activities.



Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch

confirmed Saturday night that Israel had asked

airlines not to board fly-in passengers.



“They acted pretty much accordingly,” he said.



The public security minister, who is in charge of

Israel’s response to the flytilla, said a

passenger plane with activists could land in

Israel as early as Saturday night.



“We’ve started initial preparations tonight,” he

said on Saturday.



“Tomorrow is the main day…. Clear instructions

have been given to police, the interior

minister… to prevent provocations and not allow

disturbances at Ben-Gurion Airport.”



Those identified by Israel as provocateurs who

manage to circumvent the no-fly lists and land in

Israel will be “isolated from the central

airport,” Aharonovitch said.



Activists who get past all of Israel’s measures

“will be arrested if they cause disturbances,” he

added.



Two European airlines, Jet2.com and Lufthansa,

told passengers on Friday that they planned to

comply with Israel’s demands, according to the

Welcome to Palestine website.



Jet2 advised passengers that Israel had denied

them entry and as such they might not be able to

board their flights. Lufthansa informed the

passengers in question that their tickets had

been canceled.



The pro-Palestinian website #Airflotilla2

uploaded a scanned image of one of the tickets

canceled by Lufthansa and reported that the same

notification had been sent to dozens of activists

on Thursday, informing them that their

reservations had been canceled “by order of

Israel.”



Hundreds of unarmed police officers will guard

the airport on Sunday, when anywhere from 500 to

1,000 activists try to land in Israel, according

to police estimates.



Sunday is expected to be one of Israel’s busiest

air travel days, with some 45,000 passengers

landing and taking off from Ben-Gurion.



Central police district chief Cmdr. Bentsi Sao

will oversee the operation, which is aimed at

ensuring routine at the airport.



Palestinian activist Mazin Qumsiyeh, a professor

at Bethlehem University and one of the organizers

of the event, said that Israel was only harming

itself with its “hysterical” reaction.



“Why do they want people to lie to them at the

airport?” he asked. “Why can’t they say they are

coming to visit us in Bethlehem?”

Even more egregious, are those times when editors select photos which are entirely unrelated to the associated story.

Consider this story by Reuters historical fabricators Nidal al-Mughrabi and Allyn Fisher-Ilan about the latest round of (92) Palestinian rockets and mortars launched at civilian communities in Israel and the targeted killing of Palestinian terrorists by the Israeli military.

Israeli aircraft have continued to fly attacks over the Gaza strip, killing at least 16 people, including militants, since Friday.

Depending upon source, between 94 percent and 100 percent of Palestinians killed in this exchange of fire were combatants.

By comparison, the United Nations estimates that the average ratio of civilian to combatant deaths in similar conflicts worldwide is 3:1 — three civilians for every combatant killed.

When the MSM calls ‘ordinary’ Islamofascism – “protest”

It’s quite sickening when I watch BBC, CNN and others. Describing the anti-Israel vandals in Egypt [Sep. 2011] as “innocent protesters.”

As if the ‘ordinary’ Islamo-Arabs lay out specific demands, certain details to be met.

Let’s not skid off the truth, Israel is not welcome at all, in its entirety, even if Israel would spend the whole day giving candies to the Arabs.
Speaking of ‘giving.’ What exactly was the outcome when Israel gave, for example, Gaza, whereas Arab-Palestinians, never in history ‘had’ anything in the area – as a matter of fact? Only more Islamization, more Hamas acceptance [which was voted in following Israel’s give-away] and pro-violence that targets innocent civilians, especially Israeli children. So let’s not fool ourselves that Israeli’s so-called “policies” are the real reasons.

Of course there will always be incidents [Arab-Palestinians have quite an easy job in creating incidents, all they have to do is shoot behind civilians upon Israelis], which will serve as matches. But the gasoline is there, “Arab children are taught hatred of the Jews from their mother’s milk”* *.

Their complaints are pure hypocrisy anyway. The Islamic world does not hate Israel because they care about the human rights of the Palestinians. If they cared about human rights they would have human rights in their own countries. The Islamic world hates Israel because, well, essentially because they are Jews. That, might I remind you, is a little less than 3 years before the establishment of the State of Israel and 22 years before the “occupation” began following the 6-Day War in 1967.
The Arab-League Boycott and the modern DFI are not one in the same; however, they share the same ideological roots of racism and anti-Semitism towards anyone from Israel. During the initial years of the Arab-League Boycott, all products, whether made by Jew or Arab were boycotted…

Conclusion: to the MSM, quit politicizing their deep blind hatred. There will never be peace as ,long as hate-education exist – the real problem. It may be more against Jews but it never stops there. An inscription in Arabic written on a picture of the PLO flag was drawn on a church top near the platform where the bishop spoke. It read: ‘On Saturday we [the Muslims] shall kill the Jews and on Sunday we shall kill the Christians’. In fact the Muslims of the region have long referred derisively and threateningly to the ‘Saturday people’ and the ‘Sunday people’.

This fits very well with the Islamists-appeasement policy that whatever they do, it’s just a reaction, when in fact the Arab Palestinians are always initiating the attack aimed at innocent Israelis at their homes or at kindergartens when the children are gathered there, or/and practicing the use of its own civilians.


The hidden message behind the headline which attempts almost to equate the two sides is so outrageous, as if there’s some kind of moral equivalence between those that seek death and destruction for all and Israelis that struggle so hard to defend lives. So is the naiive “understanding” that when Hamas says it does something as a “retaliation,” we should simply “believe” it. Since when is news media a mouthpiece for terrorists? No one should buy into it as a fact, or anything else beyond a Hamas’ propaganda argument. Neither CNN, nor anyone else can assert what is a “retaliation” and what is in fact, an excuse.


According to this twisted CNN view it’s all a game, they are just both fighting each other, nothing about Israelis defending citizens from Palestinians seeking civilians as targets, or/and children when they go to school. Note also CNN’s general ommission of the Israeli exact location ‘KINDERGARTEN’ repeatedly a target


Moreover, it entails a horrific cheapening of Israeli lives, that they’re hurt “only because of some retaliation” thing.


Again and again, CNN shows its real “news” colors, when its more of an opinion medium.


How about a simple non-opinionated news headline: “Palestinians fire at Israeli homes,” or “Palestinians attack Israeli kindergartens, again.” The truth for a change!

The suicidal way includes the over all ‘job’ of ensuring a pathetic and suffering situation of the Arab-Palestinians (who have been persecuted by the Arab world, but that’s besides the point), the cruelty upon its people – motivated by a no-rocket-scientist rule: The sadder the Palestinian condition is, the easier for them it is, to cast Israel in a bad light. For this reason, all Arab-Islamic (including Palestinian leadership’s) action vis-a-vis their Arab-Palestinians was always ‘anti’ these people [1], ever since 1948, when they called up on them to evacuate the area [2] [3]. They have always served as nothing more than a ‘football’ in the Arabs’ hate-game against Israel [4].

WHAT IF… THERE WAS NO BIGOTRY

Just imagine, what if the Arab Muslim world wouldn’t be so bigoted and accept the Jews, (not nearly as much as the Arabs are more-than-accepted in pluralistic Israel, but even promoted and treated every so often in a far better way than how the Jews are, who often feel as the second class citizens in their own country, in that democratic country [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] [13] [14] [15] [16] [17] [18] [19] [20] [21] [22]) in their neighbourhood, there would be no conflict what so ever.

THE ISLAMIC-FASCISM MOTIVE FLAME IN ANTI-ISRAELISM

I say ‘Jihad’ because the base and root of this anti-Jewish hatred is basically the Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin Al-Husseini ‘The Fuhrer of the Arab World’ [23] (who met with Adolph Hitler and –despite Nazis’ regard for the ‘Arab race ‘as inferior,’ and “lacquered half-apes who ought to be whipped[24]— was played, used by the Nazi leader against their ‘common enemy’ the Jews) who started in the 1920s to lead the genocidal Jihad by calling upon Muslims: “Kill the Jews wherever you find them. This pleases Allah, History and Religion. This saves your honor. Allah is with you. [25] [26] [27][28] [Back then, there was no (re-birth of) Israel yet, and there was no shame in the display of honesty in calling a spade a spade, unlike some hypocrites in the Arab-Muslim world today, who want you to believe they are “only against Zionists…” or as the more sophisticated among them cast their agenda as “criticizing Israel’s policies…”]

Thus, despite the current motivations by Arabs (some, who even might not be so Islamic in their everyday life) that entail the racism element against Jews as well [29], it was always, (since the 1920s) the Islamic theme (for this reason the NOI Black Muslim’s Farrakhan is venemous anti-Jewish, even though, blacks have been [30] and still are the very victims of Arabs’ racism in Africa [31] [32] [33] [34]) in the Islamized middle east.

While both motives (racial & religious) are diabolic, the “religious” bigotry might be to some extend more destructive and ‘endless,’ as a Muslim believes he’s doing it for Allah, for sure it’s more powerful – emphesis added.

Here’s an example from February 2010 on “moderate” Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah PA TV: “Fight The Jews & Kill Them — They Are Enemies Of Humanity & Allah” [35].

In an author’s words: ‘Muslim Judeophobia is not—as is commonly claimed—a reaction to the Mideast conflict but one of its main “root causes.It has been fueling Arab rejection of a Jewish state long before Israel’s creation.’ [36]. The simple unrefuted ‘HATE’ fact is that the Arab-Islamic middle east see the Jews as outsiders and want to eradicate them.

TOOLS

Current Arab-Islamic cult of hatred has a real sophisticated ‘Goliath’ machine, two of the major tools are: 1) Use of civilians against Israeli civilian or military targets. 2) Causing deaths among its people in propaganda actions masked under “peace” or “humanitarian.”

Both are one in the same, making sure Israel comes out ‘bad,’ and condemned.

Amazing how passionate anti-Jewish hatred among these Arab-Islamic bigots is, willing to sacrifice one’s life and fellow men/women for this sacred cause, called “Jews are bad.”

You can call it ‘creating martyrs’ but let’s not lose site of the real inhuman reality of it, its about bringing about deaths of its people – as long as Israelis can be blamed for it.

‘MILITARY WING’

Iranian backed Hamas & Hezbollah or even “moderate” Fatah’s al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade terrorists are the main ‘military’ departments of this machine, they will do anything so that Arabs die, preferably Arab kids, be it firing behind a woman’s squirt, from a populated area or from a residential home.

‘POLITICAL WING’

Then there are those fricking violent “peace” activists, that is the ‘political wing’ of this cult. One gullible woman: Rachel Corrie fell victim to manipulation of Arafat’s tricks, and she died, supposedly because of “Israelis.”

Which is why, for example, at the “flotilla ship” case (where the Muslim “activists” aboard the ship were planning their deaths as “martyrdom” [37], chanted ‘Kill the Jews for Allah’ [38], and the atmosphere on board was all about an Islamic call of: ‘killing the Jews’ [39]) the Arab-Palestinian leaders of Hamas refused aid [40] when Israelis release boats of supplies. It is in the hearts of people of all ages and in all sectors [of society]. It is a true and spontaneous solidarity… But there is nowhere for this to be expressed apart from the private sphere. As for the public sphere, it is monopolized by others who have other aims in expressing solidarity… The author’s second error is that he has limited solidarity with Palestine to participation in marches organized by the political current to which he himself belongs [i.e. the Islamists], in cooperation with the pan-Arab current – whether in its left-wing, nationalist salafi, or right-wing liberal forms. Berber Activist Moha Moukhlis: “The ‘Arab Street’ Is Jubilant When an Indoctrinated Palestinian Child Blows Himself up in Tel Aviv” – And Ignores Crimes in Darfur and Kurdistan

An article by the Moroccan Berber journalist Moha Moukhlis posted on the amazighworld.org website expressed in starker terms what some Berbers feel is the gulf between themselves and the Arab world: “…I want first to emphasize that I am writing as an Amazigh deprived of my most basic and legitimate rights: to be myself in the land of my ancestors and to express myself freely without constraint.

“I am not part of the flock that bleats as it is being led to the slaughterhouse. I am allergic to totalitarian ideologies and impassioned rhetoric. I hate confusions and ambiguities: I am an Amazigh, a free man.

“I can thus affirm that the tragedy of the Gaza Palestinians serves as fuel for Hamas, a gang of fundamentalist criminals who are perpetrating self-genocide, with the assistance of genocidal Arab regimes. [They are] mentally disturbed people who hate life and use the blood of their fellow Muslims to perpetuate their macabre aura.

“What can homemade and primitive rockets do against the fifth [largest] army in the world? ‘[They can bring us] Paradise,’ say the Islamists and their dark networks, and they have the Quranic verses and hadith to prove it! It is striking that the denunciation of the massacres in Gaza by the ‘Arab street’ and the Arab ‘intellectuals’ is not meant to defend the Palestinians’ right to live in peace, but to denounce the identity of the aggressor: the Jew. Who cares about the massacre perpetrated by the Hamas gangs against their brothers in Fatah? This macabre [attitude] is taken to extremes: The ‘Arab street’ is jubilant when an indoctrinated Palestinian child blows himself up in Tel Aviv.”

Moukhlis continues: “They criticize the Amazigh movement for its ‘silence’ on Gaza! This is because its position [on Gaza] is determinant [of its status]: either it goes along with the herd, or else it is condemned and accused of high treason against the fundamentalist Arab nation. To rehabilitate itself, it is expected to send its children to blow themselves up in Tel Aviv, to teach them to hate Jews, and to express the wish, after every prayer, that they [the Jews] will disappear from the Earth!

“No! The Amazigh people love life and work to perpetuate it. They will never give in to the siren [songs] of the peddlers of death and human flesh. They will always know to defend just causes without hatred and without vengefulness. While for the ‘Arab street’ and the Arab fundamentalist groups the death of dozens of children and women means nothing – since their death is a means of entering Paradise – for the Amazighs the life of every human being is sacred and must be defended by legal means and with respect for the other.

“In order to develop, the Arab fundamentalists and [pan-]Arabists need to start by changing. This change, which will allow them to build a future for coming generations, needs to be based on the total and definitive rejection of the culture of death.” [5]

The same attitudes could be observed in Algeria as well as Morocco. In an article on the Kabyle (Algerian Berber) website kabyle.com, Azouaou Azeggagh wrote: “The Palestinians, taken hostage in the Gaza Strip, suffer martyrdom while serving as a human shield in a war imposed on them by Hamas’ Islamist militias and their allies in Damascus and Tehran. The media are at the source of the clamors of indignation heard from the four corners of the world when faced with the horrors of a war broadcast live… They would do better to turn against the persecutors of the Palestinians’ liberty -namely, the Hamas fundamentalists, disciples of Khomeini and bin Laden…

The method remains simple and terribly effective. First, you must make Israel commit an error, by launching rockets from crowded neighborhoods, schools, or hospitals, so that the return fire will inevitably hit the largest number of civilians possible – preferably women and children. Then, you show the TV [crews] the shredded bodies, and there you go. Messaoudi, wrote on the same website: “The violence of the fighting, the mistakes [on the battlefield], and the proportion of civilians killed by the IDF in Operation Cast Lead have traveled the world round. Both in Europe and in the so-called Arab countries, the tragedies of the Kabyles, the Kurds, and the Darfurians have not excited the same compassion. In this context, it should be added that no one in Algeria or in [other] Berber countries cared when, for eight years, the Islamic jihadi militias of Hamas and Hizbullah tore Israel to pieces with Qassam rockets and Grad missiles.

“The majority of Kabyles cannot show solidarity with Hamas when it is Arab Islamism that remains the principle menace to the survival of the Amazigh peoples…

“To be sure, the slaughter being carried out by the Israeli army against the Arab Palestinian residents of Gaza is condemnable. Thus it is normal that the Arabs of other country would express solidarity with their blood brothers, try to bring in non-Arab Muslims on a basis of religious solidarity, and try to swell their ranks with people of different ethnicities and faiths on the basis of human solidarity.

“But a question has been bothering me for quite a long time and holds me back from expressing solidarity with the Palestinian cause, though I am Muslim and a human rights activist: Have the Arab peoples and regimes, whether Muslim or Christian, ever demonstrated their support for oppressed non-Arabs, whether around the world or in their own countries? The answer is ‘no’…”

Messaoudi then reviews the cases of the Kurds and Darfur before going on to address that of his own people in Kabylia: “… In the Black Spring (2001-2004), Kabylia was invaded by government troops and 126 Kabyle civilians were murdered, and hundreds of others were crippled for life. Yet the Kabyle tragedies have never aroused the compassion of Arab figures, regimes, or simple Arab citizens, either nationally [in Algeria] or in the so-called Arab world…

“In sum, the Arabs believe that only their causes are noble and only their populations are to be classed as human – this being the justification for [why] one [should] support them and surround them with love and compassion. It is unfortunate that many people have let themselves be carried away by this wave of hypocritical inter-Arab solidarity.”

Indeed, one of America’s most prestigious universities appears to be under siege.
Fearing violent reprisal from militant Muslim members of their student body, the school’s conference center rejected an educational symposium being hosted by America’s Truth Forum (formerly the People’s Truth Forum), a non-partisan, fact-based organization whose sole mission is to educate the American people on topics of national security. In this case, the subject matter to be discussed involved the “Underlying Roots of Terrorism: The Radical Islamist Threat to World Peace and National Security.”…
While the counter-terror symposium was shunned, an organization associated with violence has been awarded a forum. From February 17 – 19, the Palestine Solidarity Movement (PSM), an activist group that has expressed its willingness to work with Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, will be holding its “Fifth Annual Divestment Conference” on Georgetown University’s campus. And according to a news report, during PSM’s last conference, when a resolution to condemn terrorism was voted down, “the delegates erupted in cheers.”
When PSM announced its event, it’s interesting to see who they sent a press release to. A site that devotes a page to the release, Palestine Monitor, is said by one source to be a “PRO-TERRORIST SITE.” This is easy to understand, as the website contains numerous pages glorifying the Intifada (uprising) against Israel. Another location that prominently displays the press release is Ramallah Online, a hate site that equates the Jewish Star (Star of David) with the Nazi Swastika.
Not wanting to anger its on-campus insurgency, the university has remained hush about the event. The consideration of a small matter of money may also be on Georgetown’s mind. The PSM conference is coming on the heels of a $20 million donation to the school, given by a fairly effluent Saudi sheikh, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal. This is the same sheikh who had previously donated $27 million to a telethon that raised money for the families of suicide bombers.

New Islamic satellite channel launched

Prince Alwaleed ibn Talal, the chief executive of Saudi Arabia’s Kingdom Holding Company, has officially launched an Islamic satellite channel seeking to project Islam as a religion of moderation, the Arab News online daily reports. Al-Resalah (The Message) has been broadcasting informally since last Wednesday. At a press conference on Monday, Prince Alwaleed said the 24-hour channel would target an Arab audience, especially young people, by projecting ‘our Arab heritage through a modern medium.’. Al-Resalah will be the forerunner of a future English-language Islamic channel for Western audiences. The prince said the new Islamic network would provide a platform for a dialogue on religious, social and economic issues affecting everyday life, but its priority would be to counteract the misconceptions of Islam in other societies. Tarek Alsuwaidan, the channel?s general manager, said that 40 per cent of the programmes would be youth oriented, 30 per cent would target women and families, and 10 per cent would focus on children, Arab News reports. Kari Vogt, historian of religion at the University of Oslo, has stated that Ibn Warraq’s book “Why I am Not a Muslim” is just as irrelevant to the study of Islam as The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion are to the study of Judaism. She is widely considered as one of the leading expert on Islam in Norway, and is frequently quoted in national media on matters related to Islam and Muslim immigration. People who get most of their information from the mainstream media, which goes for the majority of the population, will thus be systematically fed biased information and half-truths about Islam from our universities, which have largely failed to uphold the ideal of free inquiry. Unfortunately, this situation is pretty similar at universities and colleges throughout the West.

London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), scene to a growing number of anti-Semitic incidents from an increasingly pro-Islamic campus, issued a threat to one of its Jewish students to cease his protests against anti-Semitism at the University. Gavin Gross, an American, had been leading a campaign against the deterioration of conditions for Jewish students at SOAS, which is part of the University of London. SOAS had witnessed an escalation of anti-Jewish activity, in both severity and frequency. At the beginning of the year, the Islamic Society screened a video which compared Judaism with Satanism.
Meanwhile, in a move to “promote understanding between Islam and the West,” Saudi Arabia donated about SR13 million to a leading British museum. The officials said the money from Prince Sultan would pay for a new Saudi and Islamic gallery, which would help to portray Islamic culture and civilization in right perspectives. It would also help fund scholarships for Saudi students at Oxford University.

The Saudis and other oil-rich Arabs are busy buying influence over what Westerners hear about Islam. Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, a member of the Saudi Royal Family, is an international investor currently ranked among the ten richest persons in the world. He is known in the USA for a $10 million check he offered to New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani in October 2001 for the Twin Towers Fund. Mayor Giuliani returned the gift when he learned that the prince had called for the United States to “re-examine its policies in the Middle East and adopt a more balanced stance toward the Palestinian cause.”

Prince Talal is also creating a TV channel, Al-Resalah, to target American Muslims. He already broadcasts in Saudi Arabia. In 2005, Bin Talal bought 5.46% of voting shares in News Corp, the parent of Fox News. In December 2005 he boasted to Middle East Online about his ability to change what viewers see on Fox News. Covering the riots in France that fall, Fox ran a banner saying: “Muslim riots.” Bin Talal was not happy. “I picked up the phone and called Murdoch […] [and told him] these are not Muslim riots, these are riots out of poverty,” he said. “Within 30 minutes, the title was changed from Muslim riots to civil riots.”
