[PDF] South Sudan, an introduction
By Chinweizu
A presentation to the Nigeria-South Sudan Friendship Association (NISSFA), in Lagos, 26 MAR 2008

Sudan is the microcosm of Black Africa’s unacknowledged Arab problem, a problem of racism, colonialism, enslavement and an Arab agenda of cultural, political and territorial expansion at the expense of Black Africa. It would take a fat book to adequately explain these matters; however, the brief answers to the 11 questions below attempt to throw preliminary light on the situation of the Afro-Sudanese.

Q1: What is the basic problem in Sudan?
In Sudan, Black Africans (The Afro-Sudanese in South Sudan, Darfur, Nubia, etc) are fighting against an Arab settler minority regime, ruling from Khartoum. They are fighting against a racist, Arab supremacist rule that is worse, much worse, than Apartheid. The Sudan situation has many of the features of Apartheid and, to make things worse, the raiding of black African villages by Arabs who sell black captives into slavery in Northern Sudan and other parts of the Arab world, is still going on there today in the 21st century. Slave raiding was not even part of the loathsome evils of Apartheid.
The South Sudanese, after a 50years war of liberation (1955-2005)—the longest war in Africa– finally got Khartoum to sign the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, CPA, in 2005. The CPA has the backing of the International Community. It grants the South Sudanese limited autonomy through the Government of South Sudan, and provides for a Self-Determination referendum in 2011. The referendum will give the people of South Sudan the chance to decide whether South Sudan will remain within Sudan or secede and become independent.
In a replay of how Khartoum unilaterally abrogated the 1972 Addis Ababa peace accord that ended the Anya-Anya phase of the Afro-Arab race war in Sudan, [an accord that, like the CPA, also granted regional autonomy to South Sudan], Khartoum is determined to kill the CPA, and is maneuvering to resume war on South Sudan and prevent the referendum.

Video: A ‘lost boy’ of Sudan returns to rebuild his homeland

January 7, 2011

On Sunday, the people of Southern Sudan will begin voting on whether to remain part of a unified Sudan or become an independent state. Sudan, Africa’s largest nation, is an oil-rich country run by Islamist Arabs. What happens there matters to all of us for strategic and humanitarian reasons. Here’s what you need to know:

For generations, southern Sudan has been dominated by the Islamist-run government in Khartoum, which has sought to impose Sharia law on the south’s Christians and animists.

Religion is one of the main causes of two bloody civil wars that have killed two million southern Sudanese. Another point of contention: control of Sudan’s oil reserves that lie mostly in the south and along the border with the north. If, as expected, the south votes to secede, many fear another wave of violence, despite assurances from Sudan’s president, Omar al Bashir, that he will accept the results of the election: “If the south secedes, we will welcome it.”

But can Bashir be trusted? He has been indicted as a war criminal for his brutal military campaign against rebels and civilians in Darfur. That fighting, which began in 2003, has left 300,000 dead. Need to Know sent producer George Lerner to southern Sudan to report on one former refugee’s efforts to help rebuild his homeland in anticipation of a vote for independence.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi drew a connecting line yesterday between his visit to the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem, the Iranian nuclear program, and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s denial of the Holocaust and calls for Israel’s destruction.

“We must watch out,” the visiting premier said. “We’ve already had one such madman in history.”

Iran Hitler Ahmadinejad At Columbia Free Speech Or Incitement? Sep 24, 2007 Ya see, I live and work in Israel, a tiny, democratic nation in the Middle East which Ahmadinejad has sworn to "wipe my children off the map." Not really a nice thing of this dictator who fashions himself after Adolf Hitler with a twist of Islamic lemon to say.

Ahmadinejad's Iran is one of the world's leading sponsors of international terror, especially the Hizbullah gang in Lebanon, and he is now obsessed with building thermonuclear weapons with which he might just accomplish what Hitler could not: the annihilation of half the world's Jews with the push of a single button.

Ahmadinejad is also directly responsible for the murder of dozens of numbers of American troops in Iraq, whose killers, according to hundreds of reliable reports, he is arming and funding.

The US State Department calls Iran a state sponsor of terror, and Ahmadinejad has called the Holocaust “a myth'' and urges for Israel to be destroyed.

Never Again?

By Charles Krauthammer
Friday, May 5, 2006; Page A19
…But in a cruel historical irony, doing so required concentration — putting all the eggs back in one basket, a tiny territory hard by the Mediterranean, eight miles wide at its waist. A tempting target for those who would finish Hitler's work.

His successors now reside in Tehran. The world has paid ample attention to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's declaration that Israel must be destroyed. Less attention has been paid to Iranian leaders' pronouncements on exactly how Israel would be "eliminated by one storm," as Ahmadinejad has promised…
As it races to acquire nuclear weapons, Iran makes clear that if there is any trouble, the Jews will be the first to suffer. "We have announced that wherever [in Iran] America does make any mischief, the first place we target will be Israel," said Gen. Mohammad Ebrahim Dehghani, a top Revolutionary Guards commander. Hitler was only slightly more direct when he announced seven months before invading Poland that, if there was another war, "the result will be . . . the annihilation of the Jewish race in Europe."

…Bernard Lewis, America's dean of Islamic studies, who just turned 90 and remembers the 20th century well, confessed that for the first time he feels it is 1938 again. He did not need to add that in 1938, in the face of the gathering storm — a fanatical, aggressive, openly declared enemy of the West, and most determinedly of the Jews — the world did nothing.

When Iran's mullahs acquire their coveted nukes in the next few years, the number of Jews in Israel will just be reaching 6 million. Never again?

Another Ahmadinejad-Hitler Parallel

IBD Editorials

Posted 08/04/2010 06:46 PM ET

Iran: President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has much in common with Adolf Hitler — hatred of Jews, warmongering, delusions of divine inspiration. Now add this: His own people have tried to blow him to smithereens.

After surviving the July 20, 1944, plot on his life at his field headquarters near Rastenburg (now Ketrzyn) in Poland, Hitler said: “I take this as confirmation of my assignment from Providence to continue to pursue my life’s goal as I have done hitherto.” Historians believe that afterwards nearly 5,000 people were executed by the Gestapo.

When the news spread of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad surviving a homemade bomb being tossed at his convoy in Hamedan in western Iran Wednesday, some Iranian opposition groups were acting as if Tehran’s 21st century Gestapo, the Revolutionary Guards, might similarly come after them.

A representative of a faction of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, asked if his group was involved, told London’s Daily Mail: “Absolutely not, absolutely not. It has nothing to do with us.”

Indeed, Ahmadinejad recently declared, Fuhrer-like, that “the regime has only one party, which is the velayat” — a term used in many Islamic countries and derived from the Arabic for “to govern.”

That’s not too far removed from “ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Fuhrer!”

And, like Hitler, Ahmadinejad and Iran’s Supreme Leader, the Ayatollah Khamenei, have put their jackboots where their mouths are, successfully putting down the popular demonstrations last summer after Ahmadinejad’s fraudulent re-election.

Of course, there were many attempts on Hitler’s life, the most interesting being Georg Elser’s planting of a homemade bomb at the Burgerbraukeller in Munich in late 1939, which detonated right on schedule but failed because Hitler chose not to be as long-winded as usual .

A carpenter of modest education, Elser was motivated by the deep resentment he felt over Nazi restrictions on German workers’ freedom to organize themselves. Much the same kind of resentment has been on the rise among ordinary Iranians.

“It’s far too early to say that it’s the first stirring of a significant rebellion against the regime since last summer’s post-election upheaval,” the National Council of Resistance said several weeks ago of strike action organized by store owners in Tehran’s traditional bazaar. “But unlike that upsurge, which involved millions of unhappy pro-reformist voters, this time it’s the bazaar, Iran’s commercial class, that is showing signs of unhappiness.”

The opposition coalition also pointed out that “back in 1978, when the anti-Shah revolution got going, it was the bazaar that provided the muscle.” The group added that “there could emerge an alliance between the bazaar, the clergy, and the reformists” and warned, “it’s clear that something important is happening.”

Arabs’ man, ‘corrupted Arab-oil man’ in Obama’s admin. ‘Pro – Dictatorship, ‘ARABIST – BIGOT’ C. Freeman attempted appointment for the CIA

March 11, 2009

Arabs’ man, ‘corrupted Arab-oil man’  in Obama’s admin. ‘Pro – Dictatorship, ‘ARABIST – BIGOT’ C. Freeman attempted appointment for the CIA

Alarming appointment at the CIA by Steve Rosen Thu, 19 Feb 2009 at 3:55 PM

Readers of this blog know that I have been generally quite positive about the appointments the new Adminsitration is making for Middle East policy positions. Today’s news is quite different. According to Laura Rozen at the Foreign Policy blog, Chas W. Freeman, Jr., the former U.S. ambassador to Saudi Arabia, will become chairman of the National Intelligence Council, and may at times participate in daily intelligence briefings to President Obama. This is a profoundly disturbing appointment, if the report is correct. Freeman is a strident critic of Israel, and a textbook case of the old-line Arabism that afflicted American diplomacy at the time the state of Israel was born. His views of the region are what you would expect in the Saudi foreign ministry, with which he maintains an extremely close relationship, not the top CIA position for analytic products going to the President of the United States.

Here is a sample of his views on Israel, from his Remarks to the National Council on US-Arab Relations on September 12, 2005: “As long as the United States continues unconditionally to provide the subsidies and political protection that make the Israeli occupation and the high-handed and self-defeating policies it engenders possible, there is little, if any, reason to hope that anything resembling the former peace process can be resurrected. Israeli occupation and settlement of Arab lands is inherently violent. …And as long as such Israeli violence against Palestinians continues, it is utterly unrealistic to expect that Palestinians will stand down from violent resistance and retaliation against Israelis. Mr. Sharon is far from a stupid man; he understands this. So, when he sets the complete absence of Palestinian violence as a precondition for implementing the road map or any other negotiating process, he is deliberately setting a precondition he knows can never be met.” Here is another example from 2008: “We have reflexively supported the efforts of a series of right-wing Israeli governments to undo the Oslo accords and to pacify the Palestinians rather than make peace with them. … The so-called “two-state solution” – is widely seen in the region as too late and too little. Too late, because so much land has been colonized by Israel that there is not enough left for a viable Palestinian state alongside Israel; too little, because what is on offer looks to Palestinians more like an Indian reservation than a country.”

According to Foreign policy blog, Freeman has told associates that in the job, he will occasionally accompany Director of National Intelligence Adm. Dennis Blair to give the president his daily intelligence briefing. His predecessor, Thomas Fingar, wore a second hat as deputy director of national intelligence for analysis.
http://www.meforum.org/blog/obama-mideast-monitor/2009/02/alarming-appointment-at-the-cia.html

I repeat: if there are serious financial conflicts of interest, Freeman should withdraw. I also find some of Freeman’s realist statements, even as contrarian, a little too brutal for my taste. But I also believe that someone whose views push the envelope against recent US policy in the Middle East is an important asset for the United States right now. And I find the hysterical bullying of this man to be repulsive.
